Education, Education, Education!!

If someone had told me when I was at school that I would regret the fact that I wasnt really bothered about learning (im sure they did, loads of times!!) maybe I would have stood up and actually listened!

Maybe if i would have had a crystal ball and could see how important education actually was... maybe...just maybe my life would have been slightly different!

But whatever the circumstances, I now find myself engrossed in every opportunity to either read someones blog on how to either improve eating habits, fitness levels, lifestyle or generally just trying to be healthier...ITS FASCINATING and I am reaping the rewards of all this information.

I have a new website that I am creating called healthy fit families.com and I am hoping to share this information with you on my journey of knowledge, please join me and hopefully you too will get the BUG..lol..

Karate in Marbella

I got a call yesterday from a young guy in his twenties asking me did we do Karate at Kudo Academies, he was a very polite person so we got drawn into a conversation over Karate and it turned out he had done it about 12 years earlier, when I asked him did he remember anything about the training he replied "no" with a bit of a laugh, so I said why Karate then?? He couldnt really answer me only that he had done it before and from what he could remember he really enjoyed it...vaguelly!!

The conversation reminded me of my first visit to the WJJF Headquaters in Barlows lane when I was 15, Bruce Lee films where all the rage and I fancied myself as a bit of a Jackie Chan, I tried to persuade my cousin who was half chinese to come with me, you know to add a bit of authenticity into my feelings! didnt want the instructors to think we were fakes!! Anyway, my cousin backed out and it was left to me to go in by myself, I remember getting the 154 bus to Northwood and getting of at the Chaser pub and walking to the dojo. I bounced in with all the confidence I could muster and said to the little fella who came out to greet me "alright mate, dya do kung fu here?" No sorry we dont, "ah never mind, truning my back walking towards the door...cya"....."but we do Ju Jitsu"...."Never heard of it mate, is it any good'"..."come down for a free lesson tonight and see for yourself"...Oki doki, cya later!"

Probably the best decision I ever made! I loved everything about Ju Jitsu, and everything about martial arts training full stop! It opened up a totally different world for me as my life at that point seemed to be slipping down the slippery slope to being a bad lad, turns out the little fella was my sensei and I couldnt have asked for a better instructor, the rest is history but my point is that dont assume that something is not for you, give it a try! it could open up a whole new world!

I get people who call me all the time looking for specifics in training but very few really know what they are looking for, its mainly just to get fit, to give there kids more confidence, or mainly to meet more people, give me a call today or check out my page www.kudoacademies.com

Attitude!!

"woke up this morning feeling fine".....there's a song there! Nope, I haven't gone mad! (well.... not any madder than usual!!)

When I start a class...any class! I always pre-frame my students to excel in the lesson, that this is going to be a GREAT class and that I am really looking forward to spending the next hour or so with them but it extends to a much deeper level.

The attitude we wake up with every morning can determine how the day will go, and especially now with social media detailing every move we make, good or bad! we can attract attention that can make the situation worse, it seems like we are telling the world how bad the day is going and this in turn attracts other negative comments on how there friends are feeling. Im not really one for telling everyone what I had for breakfast but I do like to share a nice quote or an uplifting story, and not because my job dictates that this is message I should be sharing, I just think its nice to share something good and positive instead of bad and negative!

Give it a try! tell someone how great your day is and I bet you will start to spread that greatness...possibly worldwide!!

Have a FANTASTIC day everyone!!

For fitness training and martial arts training with a difference, taught with positivity and the right attitude give me a call on 0034-667419064.

Getting back into that routine!!

A break from the day to day routine is always a good thing but I think I speak for most people that whether it be getting the kids back to school after a half term or summer break or returning from a holiday, it always feels good to get back to some sort of "normality", I know i feel that way!

Exercise sometimes feels like it is an add on to our lives and some people even feel guilty taking time out to train because there is so much going on around them that they simply find it hard to juggle everything...!!

But did you know that exercise can actually help you with your routine, we've all been there, whether it was a great session down the gym or just a lovely brisk walk along one of the beautiful beaches here in Marbella or anywhere in the world...the feeling that you get afterwards should be one of exhilaration and this is no coincidence as the brain releases a substance called serotonin, its the feel good chemical and its a bit like climbing a mountain and reaching the top and taking in the beautiful views and really appreciating what you have achieved....it feels GREAT!!

In my 28 years of teaching and training clients all over the world there is nothing better than seeing a satisfied student leave the dojo with a smile on there face (maybe a little hot a sweaty) and thanking me for a great class! I sometimes forget that I am also in the "make people feel good business"

You see there are several messages that a decent martial arts instructor and fitness coach (I say that as there are alot of bad ones about!) should be trying to get across on a lesson and most of these are not so quite obvious, actually we try to trigger your subconscious to accept what we are trying to teach instead of actually telling you outright!

Im going to do this in two parts as I think I could go on forever!! Tune in tomorrow for the next bit!

Back to the gym for me!!

Yesterday was a funny old day! I had a day off from Kudo as there was a national strike here in Marbella so I stayed in most of the day and got on with most of my administrative work that had caught up with me and desperately needed doing...boring job but felt quite gratifying once it had been done and out of the way, but half way through I realised that I hadn't been to the gym in over a week, what with working at the dojo on most of the classes I just never seemed to have the time!!

I think sometimes we all take for granted that time will always be on our side, I know I do, and then I realise that it seems to be rushing by so quickly!! anyway! after an hour or so in the gym I came out feeling like a new man, hot and sweaty but ready for the next step in my day!

If you have been feeling that time is just passing you by or that you need a kick-start to your health and fitness program give me a call!!

Most of us only wish that we had done thing different when things go wrong.....if your health suffers from either lack of exercise or bad eating habits it could be too late to turn things around!

Don`t WAIT till its too late!!! Call me today and give your fitness regime that kick-start it needs! With lots of programs to suit children and adults you will be spoilt for choice!!

For the very best of fitness training with a martial arts and MMA twist to it give me a call today, based very near to La Canada in a purpose built academy we offer the best facilities on the coast by far, we dont operate from a back street garage or school premises, we are a fully professional academy with over 29 years experience in what we to do best...serving you!

Ladies Martial Arts Classes in Marbella Part 2

Women's martial arts classes in Marbella Part 2

This is the second article about women’s martial arts classes in Marbella and I wanted to try and explain the difference in teaching martial arts to women as opposed to men. In reality I think women should be pushed as hard as men if they take up a martial art, there are of course exceptions to the physical aspects of taking a strike that I was taught not to do to a woman, i.e. deliver full power strikes to a women’s stomach or chest area, there are also differences in size and strength with a lot of women to men but not all the time if you pair your students well.

So in my experience in teaching martial arts to women over the 28 years I don’t think I have changed my methods of teaching, in fact I think I have made the women work just that little bit harder...why? because if anything, the women who have attended any of my classes have really enjoyed the fitness element of what we do and how we do it but they always felt more vulnerable to an attack than the guys, this is obviously only my own experience and we have had exceptions where a lady has really wanted to learn an art above anything but when you take my into account that the style I teach is purely self defensive Ju Jitsu it sort of works out the same thing.

So how do you know which martial art is for you? Depends what you’re really looking for, is it a style that will help you build speed and strength, is it a style that will help you focus and stay motivated, is it a style that will above everything else teach you to defend yourself?? Well if the answer to all of them is YES!! You need to be talking to us about your motivation to take up a martial art that will tick all of those boxes!

For more information on women’s martial arts classes in Marbella give me a call and let’s see if we can get you enrolled straight away. Call Carl on 667419064 NOW!!
