Hi everyone, this week has flown by in a blink of an eye!! the drama school has come and gone and been a great success for everyone involved, we have met some great kids and some interesting parents.....all in all-a very good week!!
Having said that its great to get the business back on track again!! I feel as we have stood still and watched the last week go by! We haven't of course!!....we have networked with everyone who has come passed the front door....we have successfully booked at least 8 people in for inductions in 2 weeks time, and we have started to make plans for the opening at the beginning of September...I felt as if I wasn't working...you know, getting your hands dirty!! but as we all know meeting and greeting new clients is a major part of the business plan.
I have but just a few biggish jobs to finish before we open but I think this next month will networking and pushing the ethos of Kudo Academies, that of course being the education side of the business. Martial arts is not just about learning how to defend yourself, punching and kicking...it far more than that!! we emphasise the development of the child and adult on the physiology of the body, how it works and how to keep yourself healthy, fit and in shape. We have a fully functional skeleton to demonstrate how the bones of the body work with a similar model of a muscular figure to demonstrate the functions of the muscular system. We have been praised in the past for installing knowledge in children, in a fun but informative manner by teachers who have found it difficult to communicate with them about biology, I personally think its because its a different environment...but hey!...as long as they are learning!! right??
The confidence side of things is probably the most important side to my teaching. Irrespective if they have too much or not enough, and believe me we have had our fair share of both! I think since having my own child and realising all those years before that parents had entrusted their child's safety to me and my staff has been a great act of trust on there behalf. I am a firm believer of involving the parents at every level, even having parent days when they can come in and actually see what the child is doing at that point in the syllabus. It a great way of keeping the lines of communication open between everyone and we have even had parents that have enjoyed the classes that they have become great students themselves!! On top of that we don't have a closed door policy, every parent can watch from the comfort of the reception area and be involved as much as they wish, in fact we have a closed circuit system that will hopefully be up and running by time we open, this will enable parents, grandparents and friends and family to watch there children from the comfort of there own home or in fact anywhere in the world! For safety and security reasons passwords will be given and will be changed regularly and the strictest of rules will have to be adhered to.
I have probably gone on a bit tonight but i have so much passion in what I do, sometimes it happens!!
Thank you to everyone who reads these blogs, I have 280 regular readers and have had over a thousand hits!!! Most of them over the last few months! So thank you!!
Carl
